We continue with our series of articles about talented handball players. This time we discover a special talent of Luka Karabatic, the great PSG line player and our ambassador`s (Nikola Karabatic) younger brother.
Luka reviled a lot of interesting details about his passion, who inspires him, about how did it all started and what is he still too shy to do.
WHEN IT ALL STARTED FOR LUKA …
I don’t really remember when it all started but I know that I always loved to take photos.
Maybe it all got a bit more intense four/five years ago when I could afford a better camera. Since then, every time I would travel to foreign countries or go on vacation I would take many photos.
ON WHAT IS INSPIRING HIM …
One of the things that inspire me the most is travelling. For me travelling and photography goes hand in hand.
WHAT DOES HE LIKE TO PHOTOGRAPH …?
Beside passion for the travel photography, I also enjoy taking photos of people. So far these people are members of my family – my wife, my daughter, my little nephew and niece.
Taking photos of others, random people on the street is something I would love to do, but for now I am a bit shy to really do it.
For sure this is something I want to try in the future because I am very interested in the street photography. Street photography became my special passion and I started to read books on this topic to discover what the most famous street photographers do.
FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHERS THAT HE LOOKS UP TO …
Well, I am interested in the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Doisneau, the late French photographers who shot in black and white. From the Americans I look up to photographers like Robert Frank and William Klein.
These are the photographers that inspire me currently.
LUKA ON BEING A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER ON DAY …
Lately I started to study a bit more about photography and bought myself a few interesting books. I am very interested into learning how to interpret, to read the photo.
I try to analyse the photo, that is just something that I am really into right now. And now, if something would happen and I couldn’t play handball anymore, I think I would try to study something connected to photography.
But to answer your question if I will be a professional photographer one day, it’s too hard to say. I think this could be something I could do, but really can’t pin point it precisely at this moment, I don’t know how things will develop in the future.
The truth is that I have a special bond with photography and maybe one day that could be something I would do professionally. Who knows …
