Being a sport fan is an exciting thing, so there is no wonder that even professional athletes themselves are fans too. We asked some of the best handball players to share with us, whose fans they are, which sport they follow beside handball, why they love it and which athletes they admire.

Diego’s homeland is Argentina, so there is no surprise that he is a fan of football and a fan of Messi. What is interesting is that even though he is not a fan of basketball, he says that his example of a great athlete is Manu Ginobili.

RAUL ENTRERRIOS, FC Barcelona Lassa
One of the best Spanish handball players told us that he is of course fan of FC Barcelona but that he likes to watch all type of sports, mostly NBA basketball, thanks to legends like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant. His favorite athlete is Rafael Nadal, because besides being a great tennis player, he represents the values that every sportsman must have.

‘I am a fan of a basketball, especially the NBA. Back then I admired Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal. Today I am no fan of particular sportsman but I like to support athletes who use their influence and success for the greater cause, athletes like LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick, Novak Djoković and the young but already successful Kylian Mbappé.’

“For me besides handball, the sport that I want to watch all the time is basketball, no matter which competition but NBA and Euroleague are my favorite ones. As individual athlete, I am a big fan of Rafael Nadal, about what he accomplished and the way he fights every single game.”

LUKA STEPANCIC, PSG Handball
When asked about his favorite sports and athletes, Luka told us that he follows lots of sports on a daily bases because he believes that sport is a global ambassador of the right values, like persistence, hard work and discipline, especially for kids and teenagers.
“I love to see how the biggest successes are gained from the athletes that started at the bottom, always stayed modest and humble and who decided to help other and give something back to the community. Therefor best examples and athletes that I cheer for are LeBron James, Novak Djokovic, Anthony Joshua. And of course I am a big fan of Juventus, football team.”

“There were only two athletes I have been fan of. Personalities who were my motive that all goals could be achieve, like Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali. The two of them were the best in their sports and the way they presented it was enjoyable.”
